A Cat had become very thin because he wasn’t finding enough to eat.
One day, he heard that a family of Birds nearby was feeling unwell. The clever Cat came up with a sneaky plan.
He put on a pair of spectacles, carried a small leather doctor’s bag, and knocked politely at the Birds’ nest.
The Birds peered out cautiously.
“Good day,” said the Cat in his kindest voice. “I’m a doctor. I heard some of you are sick, and I’d be happy to help.”
The Birds looked at one another and began to chirp with laughter.
“We’re doing just fine, thank you,” they replied. “And we’ll be even healthier if you stay far away from our nest!”
The Cat realized his trick had failed and slunk away, still hungry.
Moral: Be careful of those who pretend to help but are really looking out for themselves.
